Legend has it that the God Mithras was born December 25th over 4,000 years ago under a burning star. The ancient Persians believed Mithras to be born of the Sun God and a virgin mother. He was a symbol of justice, truth, and loyalty and was born into the world to fight Ahriman, known as the evil one.
2,000 years before Christ, legends say Mithras walked the earth healing the sick and raising the dead. He was then crucified and buried in a cave. He rose from the dead and dined with his 12 disciples usually associated with the 12 signs of the Zodiac.
Of course the similarities between Mithras and Christ are inescapable and although I take no sides in any debate between the two Gods, it is evident that the Sator-Rotas Square has been inherently tied up in magic and religion all through recorded history.
